Peace Treaties
This setting will allow warlite to enforce peace treaties. Peace treaties can either be set for a certain amount of turns or be broken after giving notice. A treaty will be the equivalent of a diplomacy card. If both players acquiesce, it can be canceled early (example: one guy accidentally has 1 spot in the other guys bonus so they cancel peace he takes spot and then they remake peace). There will also be a setting that makes peace treaties public or not, depending on the creators settings. The idea of peace treaties is two-fold, one it forces people not to break treaties but also two it gets rid of people not knowing whether its ethically correct to make treaties in FFAs.
Hey all,
I’m pleased to announce that peace treaties / diplomacy games can now be played using the new mod framework!
Check out the mod “Advanced Diplo v2”, which has a war/peace/allies system, and a lot of other neat features that work with this!

Well, I think a lot of us who have voted for this really only want to be able to flag someone as peaceful, but don't want enforced treaties.

Nope, this is a game of risk.

No. Half the strategy is the risk.

I hate this idea. I get why you propose this idea, however, the beauty of risk games is in being able to manage diplomatic relations with current battle conditions. Knowing when to make and break peace agreements is a skill and I don't think it should be changed. I do agree with the "peace at a glance idea" as it does get confusing when in multiple games.

would you propose that this feature be visible to all players of a game? or something that you can hide from your opponents. i would not like to see this implemented.

I so wish i could vote against this. RL war has shown us many times the diplomats and the armies do not always say/do the same thing. a Peace treaty is an agreement between two players not to fight. just because 1 player says he won't fight doesn't mean he won't send his armies there.
www.webdiplomacy.com is a game where you often do that kind of thing to gain an upper hand... your taking the diplomacy out of FFA and turning them into mid term customized team games. I agree with crafty's Idea to flag someone as peaceful etc. no effect on actual gameplay, merely a show so that you can remember not to attack someone with whom you have made an agreement with, esp. in long duration games.Peace treaties are not ended early because both sides agree, but because one side sees an opportunity. WWII Germany/Russia. Enough said.

Like this much. I think there should be a diplomacy screen during creating game where creator can choose above options. Moreover, there should be option making it possible to break treaty without warning (i.e. betray ally) or forcing players to keep their word. Treaties should be public or not (depending on game creator settings and players choose).
How about option of ending game where there are allies only left on the map (and I don't mean "Vote to end the game option") so you don't have to fight guy that was your friend during whole game -

i think you should be able to make peace with a player only if he is bordering you, so you don't make peace with all players, that way it would really become a strategy game if you have attacks from 3 sides you make peace and focuse on one opponent

I like this idea a lot. But I'd even settle for the ability to flag a player as peaceful. Even if it's not enforced, I'd just like to be able to see at a glance who I have agreed to a treaty with. With some months taking weeks or months, and being in dozens of games at a time, it gets to be really difficult to keep track of multiple peace agreements.
One thing I forgot to add -- the way I imagine this working is that when you flag someone as peaceful/treaty, a small symbol appears in their list in the name, much like the diplomacy card. Perhaps a small peace sign?
