A chat-room can easily be created on many free web-hosting-sites, there could be just one or two links to it on warlight itself that opened it up in a new tab or window.
One way this would help WarLight is if you want to create new game and you can ask the available people with what options they would join it -

I agree with Doushi, I don't know how fizzer could integrate it, but it would be nice to have it as an auto-login location perhaps on the side while on the my games or open games sections of multi-player, it could of been useful before, but so few people realized it was there, and decided to login that it made it a waste of space, as we re-realized shortly therafter.. and i also fully support a way to turn this off, either temporarily via the same screen it is displayed upon, or perma, via the settings tab.
an example of the idea i am interested in is visible at another game.. I am not promoting it, as it kinda sucks in comparison, and is in fact what i left to come here, but i like the chat room it has in it.

I think the reason this didn't work before because it was hidden and not even visible from the normal screen people sit on while playing. Additionally it wasn't integrated with Warlight which would be useful for setting up a quick game and seeing who's online. Perhaps have an integrated version that's accessible from the main menu and going to it doesn't pull you from the main flash system. If there's a simple way to create a game from it too that would be useful. Another thing you could do if you went through the effort of making that is automatically put online players in it and auto-idle them when they haven't done anything in Warlight in a while. That way people are automatically placed in chat and people in it can see who is actively online at the moment and it would kind of lightly force people into the global chat system. Granted they don't have to say anything and you might want to have an optional hidden option. As for saved chat you could just have a certain amount of backlog auto-saved for everyone. So people can see recent chat, but doesn't store a ton of chat. Also it would have to be a lot more efficient than the current in game chat system as that's real slow, particularly when you open up the history in a game with a lot of chat. Although I realize in light of other features this isn't a high priority. This feature is more for the active players than the slower players who just pop on, make their moves, then leave.
