Game moderators that can see through the fog
The creator of a game would have the option to place open seats or send invites for a Moderator position (or they could just flag the player chosen to be the moderator).
The moderator would have no territories and would not participate in the game except to communicate in public and team chats and send PMs. A moderator would also be able to see through fog.
I can imagine a number of reasons to have a moderator but mine is to facilitate the variant game called Hunt. Here's the url to the description: http://184.106.245.61/ViewHelp.aspx?s=Variants
The moderator seat isn't absolutely necessary to play Hunt but it would make it a bit more convenient, for instance, the moderator could watch a fogged game while the players play.

sounds great, i would like it to work in a simple way, create another tab in multiplayer "ongoing games" where you can simply *join* an active game and watch it, game creators should have options weather to allow spectators to chat in the public chat or send PM's, but they should always have no fog and a chat for their own

The link I posted in the description was to somewhere on Warlight.net, this one is from the wiki.
I like how this particular write up of the Hunt variant has you invite the moderator so they can decline in stead of surrender.

Remember that the game-creator can add a friend as a moderator so that they can view through fog.

This is an idea that I wanted to announce but it seems that this is the "original". I believe Warlight can become an e-sport eventually one day. This becomes difficult though because it is impossible to stream real-time games. We need to come up with a way that people can spectate competitive games or it'll become hard for this game to progress into the e-sport community. Please, take this idea seriously.

This would have to be defaulted to only in Practice Games

Would like to have a green room for the mod now that I am one in a hunt game.

You should play with people you trust.

The Hunt variant is set to practice, though it doesn't have to be, and should probably be played with people you trust so cheating isn't an issue. Also, for the Hunt variant specifically, the Moderator surrenders during round zero.
It would be fun to watch the game in real time without having turning the fog off.

dislike this for two reasons, it will lead to cheating the creator will have advantage declares moderator.
also if you like to view a game you can already do that but you must wait until the game is over.
