Global private messages
Allows you to send a private message to a player you're not in a game with.
342 votesIt’s now possible to send private messages to anybody, even if you’re not in a game with them!
This is called WarLight mail. There are two ways to send mail: You can visit a player’s profile page and click the Send Mail button. This starts a one-on-one mail thread that both players can reply to.
Alternatively, you can visit the new Community → Mail tab and click Compose New Mail. Then you can select up to 20 players that will all be able to post in the same mail thread. You can think of this like a private forum thread that only the players you select can read or write to.

spectate games
been able to spectate games even if you were not playing at the game when that started
3 votesThis needs some more details before it can be actionable.
Technically, all games already can be spectated on if you know their URL.
I think you may be talking about a way to find games that other people are playing, or you may be asking for the ability for spectators to see through the fog on in-progress games.
Please open a new item and describe in as much detail as possible exactly what you mean. Feel free to e-mail me if you need more help.

AI replaces booted/surrendered players
Allow game creators to optionally specify that when a player gets booted or surrenders, instead of changing their territories to neutral, an AI player takes over their territories for the remainder of the game.
423 votesYou can now do this! Just check the box during game creation that says “Players turn into AI controlled players when booted” or “Players turn into AI controlled players when surrendered.”
You can choose one or both of these.

Open Tournaments
Much like the "Open Seats" system, but for tournaments. This would allow tournament creators to declare their tournaments "open" which would allow any WarLight player to join it, even if they were not invited.
183 votesI’m pleased to announce that Open Tournaments are now available!
When creating a tournament, you can mark it as “open” which allows anybody to join without being invited.
To join open tournaments, head to the Tournaments tab and click Open Tournaments.

Auto boot
Game creators can enable auto-boot for their game. When enabled, if a player reaches the boot timer, WarLight will automatically boot them instead of requiring a player to click the boot button.
145 votesWarLight now supports auto-boot! When the auto boot time is reached, WarLight will automatically boot players without requiring anybody to click the boot button.
Game creators can set the auto boot independently of the other two boot times

Ladder
The WarLight ladder is a system that ranks players based on their true skill.
The current "Ranked Game" system is not a measure of true skill, since it's easy to artificially inflate your rankings simply by declining to play against stronger opponents.
The ladder overcomes this by preventing you from choosing which players you play against. Players who elect to play in the ladder will get games created for them automatically and then the results will be used to rank them.
The ladder rankings are displayed publicly on the website for all to see.
333 votesThe 1v1 ladder has arrived!
A 2v2 ladder will be coming in a later release.

Scenarios
To be able to take a map and personally decide the initial army placements. So if i want i could decide players A gets 10 armies in south america and player B gets 3 armies in north africa and 5 in greenland. Also to be able to decide who gets what territories so for example in BIG USA i can give the east to one player and the west to another.
74 votesI’m pleased to announce that custom scenarios are now available!
Game creators can now elect to forego the built-in map distribution system and enter, territory-by-territory, exactly how they want the map to be distributed.

For ranked stats on profiles, separate team games from non-team games
Your stats in your profile would break down into Team Games and FFA's. So for a 4 person game win, you would have stats for 2v2's, 1v1v1v1 (FFA), (no need for 3v1). I think a 8 person FFA win is way harder to do than a 4v4 win.
10 votesYour profiles now show team games separate from FFA games!
Note that games with uneven teams (such as 3v1) are no longer included, since there’d be no way to tell if you were on the bigger or smaller side.
Here’s an example:
2 player FFA: 271 / 370 (73%)
3 player FFA: 13 / 24 (54%)
4 player FFA: 16 / 39 (41%)
5 player FFA: 5 / 8 (63%)
6 player FFA: 6 / 20 (30%)
2v2: 138 / 181 (76%)
2v2v2: 2 / 8 (25%)
2v2v2v2: 0 / 1 (0%)
2v2v2v2v2: 1 / 3 (33%)
2v2v2v2v2v2: 0 / 1 (0%)
3v3: 30 / 46 (65%)
3v3v3: 3 / 8 (38%)
3v3v3v3: 2 / 5 (40%)
3v3v3v3v3v3: 1 / 2 (50%)
4v4: 15 / 22 (68%)
4v4v4: 0 / 2 (0%)
4v4v4v4: 2 / 4 (50%)
5v5: 5 / 8 (63%)
5v5v5: 0 /… -

Display the booter
When a player is booted using the "direct boot" feature, the person who booted them will be displayed in the orders list for everyone to see.
37 votesI’m happy to announce that when a player is booted using the “direct boot” feature, it now shows who booted them.
It also shows how long the player hadn’t moved, so it will be very clear if the player was booted just after the boot time or after holding up the game for an unusually long time.
