  1. Map Page Overhaul

    There are several ways Warzone can improve the way it presents user created maps.

    [Stats]

    -Each map's page should list stats like "number of games played", "number of favorites", and maybe showing who has it on their favorites list.
    -There could be certain stats only the map's creator can see, like a graph of the number of games played, or its average rating.

    [Templates and Games]

    -Sometimes the map creator behind a map has created a template or two for use on the map. A special section on the page could show all the templates approved by the map creator. …

    • Private Games (allows open seats without being advertised)

      A "private game" is a public game which is not advertised in the Open Games list. (I believe the option already exists in the Warlight code, so it shouldn't require much programming work.)

      This allows a player to start a game and then share the link in whichever way they like: on the forums, by e-mail, with their clanmates, or in current games they are playing.

      By using a private game, a player can start games with specific rules or specific requirements. Doing so has two advantages:

      1. It doesn't take up space in the Open Games tab.

        Enabling clan creators to effectively moderate their private clan forums. Removing posts or threads, sticky or lock threads, etc.

        • Auto commit, direct commit and vote to commit

          Warlight shoud add a vote to commit, direct commit and auto commit feature, based on the vote to boot, direct boot and auto boot feature.

          When a player does not commit his orders before the auto commit time, the orders already given are automatically commited. The armies not deployed by the player during the turn are lost.
          Consequently, if the auto commit time is reached without any deployment or attack orders given by the player, and when the game advances, his armies remain stationnary.

            It's a known fact that there was once a 50-man FFA event held by Fizzer himself, so the code is there; implementing such a feature, even if under some nasty requisites (membership, or a high level like 57~60) would be very easy and quick. Assuming the code wasn't changed much, it's all about making it publicly avaiable.

            This would be great for large Free-For-All games; as chaotic as 40-man games are, an extra 20% players will make it even more fun! Specially on huge maps like Hex Earth.

            • Able to commit games that don't respect vacations while on vacation

              without ending the vacation.

              some tournaments do not respect vacation, which is totally fine not to drag games for too long - what is not ok is that, if you are on vacation, you need to commit those games if you don't want to get booted, but when you do, your vacation is over and you have to commit every other game too within an hour, which could be IMPOSSIBLE while on vacation with a very limited internet access.

              This extends to real time games and every other game in which you can be booted while being on vacation.

                it would be great if we could search for popular templates that we like instead of just copy pasting their links
                sometimes i don't have it saved in my templates but i still want to play it
                also,the my templates section is still hard to navigate in because of very similar looking but different templates

                  • Add the army loss graph to the Unity client

                    • Allow local deployment with overlapping bonuses

                      I love the idea of local deployment, and the much more realistic and long-term strategy that it requires. Unfortunately, many great maps have superbonuses, which means either you can't play them or you have to hunt down all of the nested bonuses during setup and set a bunch to zero to remove the overlap (which can take an hour or so).

                      I bought the mega-strategy pack specifically for local dep, and was pretty disappointed by this limitation. I would love to see this feature.

                      That said, I'm still happy to support such an awesome game. I'm not knocking it, just…

                        The issue with local deployments and overlapping bonuses comes up when you think about deploying. When players deploy an army to a territory that is part of two bonuses and they control both of those bonuses, the game would need to know which bonus you want to take the army from.

                        Imagine three territories: 1, 2, and 3. There’s a bonus A made up of territories 1 and 2, and a bonus B made up of territories 2 and 3. Both bonuses give 1 army per turn and therefore the player gets 2 income. Imagine a player controls all three territories (and therefore both bonuses), and then tries to deploy an army on territory 2. The game needs to know if it should allocate that army from bonus A or B.

                        There are a few strategies it could use to decide:

                        I have several ideas for clan pages....

                        1) List of all clans should be ordered by an average of points in the clan (perhaps ignoring those -2 standard deviations from mean to account for past members who have gone inactive). Total points encourages spam recruitment.

                        2) Trophy Case on clan page - would list all Gold Trophies accumulated by the current clan members. This would go below the created date and above the free text area. OR, could be placed on left side under Logo and links.

                          My proposal how it can work:
                          - 25% of the tournament field would be seeded (for example 32 players in case of a 128 players tournament, or 16 players in case of a 64 players tourney, etc.)
                          - If the tournament creator set the seeded option, then the invitation sending order will be important. So the first invited player will be the first seeded, the second will be the second seeded, etc. All invited players will have a seeded number but only the top 25% joined players will be seeded in the end (so if the first invited (=first seeded)…

                            To prevent people having to play templates they don't like because they unlocked a new template and immideatly got a new game on it without having a chance to uncheck it, I suggest newly unlocked templates start as unchecked in QM.

                            • Reduce The Matchmaking Range

                              Make the Ladder matchmaking range reduced so that ratings are more meaningful and so that gaming the ladder becomes less effective and less necessary to achieve a high, but well-earned rating.

                              The range is currently 15%, reducing it to 10% or 5% would greatly improve the integrity of the ladder. The way this works is better outlined here: https://www.warlight.net/Forum/171869-plea-fizzer-fix-matchmaking

                                  • Add a hierarchical clan management system

                                    Right now, there's only one built-in position within clans- "manager," which grants someone absolute control, even to the point of being able to dismiss other managers. This leads to a few issues:

                                    1. People have to place absolute trust in other managers when it comes to recruitment
                                    2. Clans are extremely vulnerable to hijacked or hijacker accounts (as all it takes is *one* person to destroy months or even years of recruitment and development)
                                    3. People can "steal" clans to get clans for free instead of actually paying for them

                                    The quickest way to solve all these issues at once…

                                    • Allowing Open Seats for Testing Games

                                      Every map maker has the problem when they want to create a real-time test game. But because you can only invite people to play in Multipayer, you can't co-ordinate a real-time game. Allowing open seats in test games would change this. You could test the map, find out what you wanted to know and change the map immediately, straight afterwards without having to wait multiple days to test it.
                                      To distinguish the Test games from other Open Games, their Game Name could be highlighted Green with *TESTING GAME* written by the side.

                                        It would be nice to be able to reserve team spots in a tournament for clan mates or friends. There should be a way to reserve a team. It should go by the auto boot time, and if the slots are not filled in that amount of time, it would open them back up. People do not read the chats and just keep joining teams. There is SO much work into switching teams all the time just to get a clean slot for your friends to join.

                                          Add a button where it allows you to set a minimum global rating that your opponent must have in order to be matched. Very often I get matched with players who are new to the game and this has several downsides.
                                          - I am not enjoying beating someone who doesn't understand the game (yet)
                                          I can't imagine them enjoying the way they loose without having a clue what they are doing wrong.

                                          A gliding scale where you slowly get better opponents as you are improving in the game should be the most pleasing learning experience.
