Cleverer AI
I'd like to see some more/smarter options for the AI -- perhaps just several difficulty levels, or perhaps also different styles of play. This is useful for playgroups who want to face off against a computer team, but still face a challenge.
I’m proud to announce that WarLight now has an all-new improved AI! Read more here: https://www.warlight.net/blog/index.php/2016/04/update-3-13-new-ai-custom-single-player-levels-autopilot/

I find the AI's amazingly bad. It would be really nice if, when a player is replaced by AI due to being booted or surrendering, they would be replaced by an AI of comparable skill. In team games even one turn by the AI tends to destroy the game. I am a software developer with some 20 years experience in AI and similar fields, perhaps I can help develop some smarter algorithms?

would like to see choses about offensive, balanced or deffensive(and others) AI and ability to chose in settings what sort of AI you want to be replaced by in games
also would like to see a general polish of the AIs as they now will attack every unit in one spot and just 2-3 in all the others, even when the one the AI is fighting have alot less units and would be broken if the AI split everything up into units of 8 or 9 armies that it could win faster whit.

i would like to be able for users to script / program their own AI, based on a script API of some sort, and allow users to submit and select which AI they would like to be replaced with when they surrender or get booted.

I am seriously amazed about how bad the AI is. I realize, that it is not easy to program a good AI (that runs fast and doesn't eat up too many resources), but this is just bad.
I realized many annoying things about it, but in one of my current games it is just unbelievably bad. The AI has around 70 armies standing idle (with being able to advance theoretically) with maybe half that many armies at another front line actually doing something.Or having extra armies at a position where noone can attack and not using them to help defend the country right beside it... please improve upon this FAST - or if you don't want to let me try and have a shot at it.
Cheers, Johnny

The AI is seriously brain-dead, it does need to be better. At least common sense so when the AI i by far the strongest player they do something about it.

one vote here, because even though multiplay is more fun, we need AIs for the following reasons;
1) to train newer players (especially different styles of AI agressive/defensive/diplomatic/... will train us up faster)
2) sometimes you dont have the time to play a full game, or you can play for a while but have to go away for fifteen minutes in between
3) AI will fight you with whatever (impopular) setting you like to use or experiment with
