Soft boot
There are two main purposes of booting: player doesn't submit orders in given time or leaves the game/WL.
In the first case it's sometimes because he was unable to do so in given time (hardware failure, power cut, whatever) but then he goes back to WL just to see he'd been booted and can't play any more.
So, how about "soft-boot" mode? In soft boot player which doesn't submit his orders is replaced by AI for that one turn only. Then there's another full time turn when player can go back and continue his game. However if player leaves game that would cause game delaying so to prevent it there would be at most two full time turns waiting for player, then AI'd start issuing orders immediately but player still could go back at any time and press "I'm back 'n alive, let me finish my game".
I’m pleased to announce that WarLight now supports soft boot!
To use this, enable the setting “Booted players get turned into an AI.” When a player becomes an AI, they now have a button that allows them to take back control from the AI. This effectively allows an AI to control a player while they’re away, and they can play themselves while they’re there.

The thing i liked to have would be a button "let AI do this turn" , a button "let AI automatically do my turns", and if you clicked this and if you are booted a button "Rejoin the game"

a player being able to reclaim ownership of his AI would definitely be nice

This is similiar to my 'Players can lose turns' idea. I like the idea of the AI taking over for the 'lost' turns. In my idea, two turn losses would result in a boot.
I'll switch my votes over now

Here's how I see this option:
- after boot time player can be either (auto)booted permanently, or (auto)booted softly;
- a player, that's been booted softly is controlled by AI, which commits moves without delay; if/when this players comes back, he can take over at the current game state; while in the soft-booted state, the player can be booted permanently, even though the AI commited moves.
