Open Tournaments
Much like the "Open Seats" system, but for tournaments. This would allow tournament creators to declare their tournaments "open" which would allow any WarLight player to join it, even if they were not invited.

I’m pleased to announce that Open Tournaments are now available!
When creating a tournament, you can mark it as “open” which allows anybody to join without being invited.
To join open tournaments, head to the Tournaments tab and click Open Tournaments.

Everyone who voted for this really needs to redistribute their votes.. -_-

I agree owith crafty, i just made a 64 man tourney which is still being waited on a couple of days later..
the worst part was, i picked and choose through my invite list, choosing only players that i liked or knew to some degree, and ended up having to cut out half of them in order to allow it to be invitable.. -

If open tournaments are not being implemented soon, it would be a huge help to get the invite limit raised (again? I think it was raised once). It's still incredibly difficult to fill tournaments at times. I have a relatively small 56 player tournament that I created four days ago, which still has 10 open slots -- if I could invite more people, i'm sure it would have been filled in the first day.

I think if the Open Tournament setting allows for the same filtering as regular open games (that is, you can do things such as limiting joining to players who have 100 games played +, or a certain boot percentage etc.) it would be quite viable.

Also, you should have the option to randomize tournament teams - this isn't as important for open tournaments, but for closed tournaments among a group of friends.

The biggest pain is when a ton of people have declined or are undecided, but you can not replace them with other invites. The tournament creator should be able to drop invited people so that more can be invited. As long as you can't max out invites, "allow players to invite their friends" is just as good as open seats.

This is not a bad idea, but what I'd really like to see is a refinement of the tournament interface - - it can get to be a real mess. Creating a display option of "Tournaments that I have accepted where I have not been eliminated" would cut down on the clutter on the tournament page. Someone educate me if I'm wrong, but I believe that at the moment, you have to look through ALL of your tournaments in which you've ever participated if you want to see the current ones. (Yes, I know you can sort them, but it's still irritating when completed tourneys don't fall off the "active" list. Those should be separately grouped.)

The tournament interface needs some improvement IMHO, but I think letting the tournament creator to rearrange teams or delete players is more important.

I thought we already had this option. Frankly I'd never make an open tournament if i had the choice.

a sort button for tournament invites would also be nice
