Make automatic distribution try to be fair instead of being random
With the automatic distrabution i feel there should be some level of balance with where everyone starts. I just played a team game with automatic distrabution. My Teamate and I started in Canada, Australia, South America, And Antartica. Our Opponent started in Scandinavia, Caucasus, Inda, And East China. I don't see how anyone can win with the starts we had against the starts they had.
This idea can now be implemented using the new mod framework! As such, I’m closing this idea, as new ideas that can be implemented as mods should be created as mods first. See https://www.warzone.com/wiki/Feedback for details.
Thanks for the suggestion!

Yes! Automatic distribution fairness is a great idea. I have some ideas on how to implement it, if the devs are interested. I'm a C++ developer with ±25 years experience mostly in mathematically hard areas, like this one. This is a similar problem to the marriage problem with some added complexity: 1. The purpose of automatic distribution is to not always have the same games, so it should still have a random element to it.
2. Each player/team should have starts that are roughly equally good or bad. For this one would have to look at the position, but also the combination of positions.
3. I think the same can be done for autogenerated teams, but I will post that in a separate post. -

Yeah, so you get bad luck on one game. That's why there are a bunch! Both WM x and crafty35 have good points, and to add on, there aren't even definitive best spots because many people have different strategy!

Solution: manual selection

I don't think this is really feasible. In order to do this, the game would somehow have to know which starting spots are "best," for every map! Given the limitless number of possible starting combinations, it just seems like an almost impossible task.

I really feel there needs to be some balance in the random starts, I have played against ppl who had bad starts & felt bad when I look at the history. The unfair advantage doesn't make it a moral win.
