Achievements
Achievements are awards that get unlocked as you play the game. Your profile can show which achievements you have unlocked.
For example:
- Complete the Insane challenge level.
- Complete Level 3 in 20 turns or less.
- Win a multi-player game with more than 20 opponents.
- Make a stack of over 1000 armies.
etc..

WarLight now has achievements! See the announcement here: http://blog.warlight.net/index.php/2013/07/coming-soon-achievements-and-trophies/

How about an achievement for defeating Fizzer in a 1v1 game?

I think its a good idea but it needs to be considered which achievements would be honored

not_spartacus is right.
Also you maybe could give achievements on single-player, but not to go onto your profile, which will pop up on the screen (like in other not so good games). I found warlight through armour games, and i'm sure more might start via an incentive such as achievements -

This would make people people addicted to WarLight, other people then the ones already addicted, Fizzer ;)
Possibly you could make auto-games that one-time-only give a medal, those games would only be accessible to players who have played 100+ games and possibly a few other settings(like not having tried this auto-game in the last two weeks)
making the "harder" of these auto-games only available to members
Off course what kind of levels that would be would still be open to discussion, i would vote for games with all kinds of strange settings, while others might rather have simpler games with few cards -

And as to Eagle, the stars are a small thing, and I feel that achievements could be more of special tasks that you wouldn't normally see in the statistics.

I think that it would be best that achievements stay small for now and as for the 1000 stack army, maybe have a section in the maps called achievement certified maps, made or checked/approved by the creators of Warlight.

This seems to have already been partially implemented, and I like it so far. I think achievements in general is a good idea, provided that thought is put into the perverse incentives that certain achievements might create.

Hmmm....not convinced this is good. I mean, it might be commercially good in attracting lots of Kongregators, but feels veyr different to Warlight as it is, and certainly I wouldn't want to see achievements like the 1000 army one that could in any way skew gameplay. I can imagine the scenario: dweeb has pile of 100 armies, keeps other players alive on one province and refuses to let the surrender until he reaches 1000. Aaargh! For me, the only big thing missing on the profile is acknowledgment of tournament results- if I ever did win one, I'd want it up there in lights.

The thousand army stack should be thought over a little more, because I think if that achievement is made everyone is just going to play a game with all bonuses overridden to 10000 or something. Maybe only make it count when your income is 100 or less?

Good idea, should also include a 'winning streak counter' where you top winning streak is displayed on your home page as well as you current consecutive wins.

oh my ... why do you all need achievements?
“Give me enough medals, and I’ll win any war.” Napoleon already knew you.

This is a great idea! Like xbox live sort of...this is something that should be pursued.
