Lose points for losing games (or, a separate player ranking system?)
In the same spirit as https://warlight.uservoice.com/forums/77051-warzone-features/suggestions/36188956-disallow-lottery-games-and-get-me-to-level-x-gam, I would like it if points could be a better indicator of players skill.
As it stands now, a player can get to a very high level without being a very good player, just by playing a very large number of games, because losing a game does nothing to your points or level. That means that over time, you accumulate points and levels, even if you win only a small fraction of the games you play.
It would be nice to be able to judge the approximate ability of a player based on their points/level/rank. One way to make this work better would be for a player to lose some points when they lose a game. It would probably be a much smaller amount than is gained by the winner, so that a player can still advance over time despite losing a fair number of games.
An alternative to this would be to implement a ranking system similar to chess or Scrabble, where players increase in rank by winning games and decrease by losing games, weighted based on the relative rankings of the players involved. This ranking could then be used to judge a player's skill, instead of the meaningless points system.

That might work for one-on-one, but how about 20- or 40-player FFA or team games? A player shouldn't be penalized because one or more (unknown or random) team members got booted.
But, yes, the current method indicates experience more than skill. But that's not necessarily meaningless.
