One-way connections
I'd like to be able to design a map with the possibility of one-way connections between territories (e.g. Territory A can attack Territory B, but Territory B can't attack Territory A). I've modelled maps on a chess game and a transport system, and both have connections like this which I could't recreate. I think it would open up another tactical level of play, and some interesting possibilities for future maps.
Hey all,
One-way connections can now be implemented using the new mod framework!
Check out the “One way connections” mod.

I very much like and support this idea- how cool would it be to replicate Christopher Manson's "MAZE: Solve the World's Most Challenging Puzzle" on Warlight? That'd be my first map creation with this implemented :)

Fizzer,
My clan was talking about this, and we actually thought of some pretty simple ways it could be implemented. First, there would be a setting to turn them off or on, and those territories with a one-way connection would have their attack/transfer arrows with a black/white colored outline that would stay visible throughout the entire game.
1. On the mapmaking side. We already create connections, just have a separate button to create one-way connections. We would drag from the first territory to the second, meaning that players could only attack from the first to the second, and not from second to first. that way they always go with the "art" of mapmaking. The only drawback of this one is that it would only apply to new/updated maps, and not maps where the mapmaker is no longer active and could change it if wanted.
2. Allow game creators to change the connections like the way they change bonus values. They would be able to toggle them between a->b, b->a, and a<->b. This would be good so that they could be implemented into older maps
3. A combination of the two would probably be best, make it so that mapmakers can default the paths, but the game maker could change the settings (if it is unlocked).
We have 10 or so players in our clan that would love to see this feature added.
Then, there would be a setting unlocked at whatever level that would turn them off or on and change the connection types.
We dont' think it would complicate games.

I think the problem can be solved by setting the unlock level and level prerequisites of maps with one way connections to a high level for example like 40 or something and add a symbol to distinguish them from normal maps with linear connections.
This can solve the problem brought by the difficult nature of such maps and give players many new gaming modes.

You could create some really interesting survival maps too, putting AIs in spots where they are unreachable and can grow stronger. Adding +3 because I think this would add a lot of diversity, and I don't think it's any more complicated than other features in the game :)

It would add a lot of diversity to the game...

Good Idea, but it will make borders be more difficult to see. I suppose it could work if it was like two distant territories, and a line with an arrow at the end could single which way it goes. But if the two actually border, things would be to difficult...

If implemented, if could allow fun situations in maps, such as secret path, hidden base, fortification, artillery,....

Kill of the Hill maps could be possible too. Like there is only 3 ways up but if you control the top then there would be like 5 ways down (or more).

this would make it more difficult, *Imho* for Warlight to be able to verify that a map is actually playable..
nonetheless, I like the idea -

This would also allow the possibility for "orbital bombardment" maps, where you can attack a planet from space, but to attack space from the planet you have to go through a spaceport territory with two-way connections.
