Player "Active/Inactive" Status- where inactive players automatically forfeit all open games.
If a player has not made a move in any game for 30-90 days (comment on how long you think it should be), then their status would change from "active" to "inactive" and they would automatically forfeit any open games (the equivalent of a auto-surrender).
Any move in any game would reset the clock on one's active status, so this would not address people who choose not to play a given game for months, but it would clean-up games where one or more of the players has left WL.
Also, if you become inactive, all you would have to do…

My Games Filter by Waiting For
Add a new filter for My Games in which you can filter by the Waiting For time.
Therefore, any games that are stuck, you can have them not show up on your list because you will only have games that that fit the time limit of say 30 days or more. When/if the turn moves, it will be filtered back into your main My games list.
This will help clean up the My Games list. Please vote!

Vote to change boot time
This would allow any player to initiate a vote to change the game's boot time. This also means a real-time game could graduate into a multi-day game.
This is useful for real-time games that start out going quickly, but then last longer than expected and someone has to leave. If all players agreed, the game could continue on as a play-by-email game.

Declare victory when one team has overwhelming superiority
If one player/team has such overwhelming superiority in terms of terroritories and bonus areas controlled, this should result in an automatic victory. For example, if in a game of five players, one player already has income equal to, say, 70% of possible armies, and no other player has control over more than one bonus area, it's extremely unlikely that they'll fight back to win. But it's sometimes necessary to go through the whole mopping-up process - when everyone knows what the outcome will be. It would be much easier to declare an automatic victory at this point - or at…

Game moderators that can see through the fog
The creator of a game would have the option to place open seats or send invites for a Moderator position (or they could just flag the player chosen to be the moderator).
The moderator would have no territories and would not participate in the game except to communicate in public and team chats and send PMs. A moderator would also be able to see through fog.
I can imagine a number of reasons to have a moderator but mine is to facilitate the variant game called Hunt. Here's the url to the description: http://184.106.245.61/ViewHelp.aspx?s=Variants
The moderator seat isn't absolutely necessary…

In-game Player Status
Shows whether the player has actively started their turn, or are yet to make any moves.
Would be very helpful in deciding whether to boot a player who is no longer playing, or not booting a player who needs extra time to move.
Perhaps the player name could be green if they had made a move in the last minute, orange if inactive for more than a minute, or red if not moved for 5 mins?
Not sure how easy this would be to implement though!

Teammate takes over for booted/surrendered player
The booted/surrendered players army will not being combined into teammate's army, but will be controlled separately by the teammate. Player will have to execute moves for two armies in the allowed time.
468 votesAdminFizzer (WarLight Creator, WarLight) respondedTeammates leaving a game is certainly frustrating. Allowing another teammate to enter orders for them is definitely a possible way to address that problem.
We could use some feedback on the following potential issues with this feature:
1. In teams of more than 2 players, who gets control of a player that’s left? Just first to click the button, or assign a team captain or something?
2. Could this slow down real time games? Imagine if one person has to enter orders for 3 teammates that have left plus themselves.
3. Would this encourage someone to boot their teammates, just to take control over them?
4. It needs to be very clear who is playing who for every turn. If someone that’s under control starts sabotaging their team, like gifting stuff to an enemy or attacking teammates, it needs to be clear it isn’t really them and you shouldn’t necessarily… -

RSS Feed for Notifications
Provide an RSS feed as an alternative to the email notification system. For those who use in-browser RSS notification systems, this would be a nice way to know it is your turn in a game without having to check your email.

Simple player rating system
Create a simple rating system which expresses player performance as a function of actual winning percentage vs. expected winning percentage.
Simple example: If you were expected to win 25% of your games (based on the number of players/teams in the games), and you actually won 35% of those games, your performance rating would be 35% / 25% = 1.4
I think this method has some advantages over something like an Elo rating system. Particularly the fact that this rating is very easy to calculate (elo for a multiplayer game like Warlight is even more complex than for a two player…

Max Troops in Territory Option
Instead of just having a max number of troops that a player can control, limit the max number of troops allowed per territory. If the player would get more troops then he/she can deploy, those troops are lost

Randomize Teams in a Tournament
With a group of friends who play tournaments among themselves, it would be great to allow everyone to join the tournament and then randomly put everyone into teams.

Add a "friends list" subset to the invite list
After playing many games here, the invite list gets cumbersome. It would be nice to have a smaller list for people I really enjoyed playing with.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Auto refresh for the My Games page
Have an auto refresh in the game lounge similar to the auto refresh when you're in a game. Maybe have a setting where you can disable and/or change the amount of time between refreshing.

Sitters (backup players)
I would like to see a features from the web based game Travian.
They have a function called Sitters which means that you can add 1 or 2 persons who are allowed to user your account (like when you leave for a vacation or extended leave for some reason).
As it works in Travian, those users can then just put in your account name and login with their regular password.
Perhaps there could even be some kind of notification that it was a sitter who made the move, perhaps an asterisk after the name so something like this:

New Game Page Filter Options
For a more in-depth explanation: http://warlight.net/Forum/Thread.aspx?ThreadID=355. This would allow the player more flexibility in what games show up on their multiplayer page. Instead of being restricted to just Active Games or Games where it's My Turn or the other preset settings, the player can pick and choose exactly what criteria they want to use to show games on their page.
